Streamlight TLR-1

tlr-1_on-gunShine a light on what your gun is pointing at with the Steamlight TLR-1 Rail Mounted Weapon Flashlight.

Why would you want a weapon mounted light?

Glad you asked, because it is very important. Here’s why: If you can’t see what you’re point a gun at, you can’t in good faith pull the trigger–or at least really really really shouldn’t.

Let’s face it, almost none of us are super soldiers that can identify targets using only their ears. And seeing the target could be the difference between popping a round into the family dog or an actual threat.

tlr-1_top-sideFor as long as I can remember, I’ve kept a flashlight in my bedside table. It’s always kept in the exact same place near my EDC gun. But this means two things to grab if something goes bump/crash/bang in the night that requires immediate attention.

And that brings us back to the Steamlight TLR-1: A weapon mounted light that typically ranks among the top five options on the market. By throwing one on a gun, it means seeing what you’re pointing your gun at and having to fumble for only one thing.

Some quick features of interest:

  • 300 Lumens out of a C4 LED
  • Ambidextrous momentary and constant on switch
  • Up to 2.5 hours of runtime per pair of CR123s
  • Black anodized, waterproof, dust proof, aluminum housing
  • Fits any weapon with a 1913 Picatinny rail.
  • Lifetime limited warranty

Note: This does not fit H&K pistols since H&K seems to always want to be special. So if it’s an H&K you’re using, you’ll have to buy an adaptor.

And yes, now that it’s November, Friday Gear Reports are back! (For those that are new to the site/show, September – October is a busy time for me professionally.)

In his free time, he enjoys hogging the remote, surfing, scotch, mental masturbation and debate over philosophical topics, and shooting stuff--usually not all at the same time.
