After hearing this podcast today I happened to notice some 1.5V Lithium AA batteries at the store earlier. Here is the specs on them and what I can expect from my MiniMag with a cheap LED conversion….

They are about half the weight… hold charge for up to 20 years… last up to 9 times longer during use (25hr x 9 = 225hrs of use!!!), the lithium batteries are almost immune to heat and cold and will function normally between temps of – 40deg F and +140deg F. Not to forget that lithium batteries maintain full power up until about the last 10% of charge… where old school batteries get weaker and weaker throughout the charge. My Nite Ize LED conversion has worked flawlessly for the last several years… even with a 1 and 3yr old playing with it continuously right now. Just tapping the waterproof button and having a light beam that is focused already makes good use of the weak 30 lumens. Primary use is just having a reliable flashlight around that never goes dead. Now it literally will almost never go dead. No matter the temps/weather/or child. lol

Great show with some awesome advice on new toys to purchase.
And I’ve been looking for a good battery charger for some time, and I think I’m in love…LOL

Just got the Xtar VP4 and yesterday. It. Is. Freaking. AWESOME. Although, unlike the previous version without the display, the directions read like it won’t do anything lower than a 3v battery. So no AAs. However, I need to check with Marshal about this. I could just be reading the directions incorrectly.
