A Tribute To Ron Hood: Woodsmaster
On Saturday October 8, 2011 I received an email about a limited edition Survival Quarterly issue titled A Tribute To The Woodsmaster.
For those not familiar with Ron Hood, he was one of the most knowledgable and yet humble wise men of our day when it comes to bushcraft and survival topics. I never got the chance to know him well, but what I can say about him was that his spirit always seemed to be light, he was always ready to teach, share a laugh, and his words were measured and candid at the same time.
Ron passed away in his sleep of a heat attack on June 22, 2011. He was a veteran, beloved friend, mentor, and teacher to many. Ron is survived by his wife Karen and Son Jesse.
From Karen Hood:
Ron was a true beacon of light in the survival industry and he is very missed. It is now my duty and honor to carry on with Survival.com and our Survival Quarterly Publication. We have spent the past 3 months putting together a Special Limited Edition of Survival Quarterly Magazine – available for pre-order now. This issue is a Tribute to Ron Hoods life and legacy and is my gift to Ron, our family, our friends and especially our 8 year old son Jesse. Pre-Orders are being accepted now. There are only a limited number being printed and you do not want to miss this one.
You may be wondering what this means for Survival.com. In a brief email exch2ange, Karen assured me that what she and Ron built together will go on,
..we are not going anywhere any time soon.
Hoods Woods/Survival.com has gone through many tough things through the years, but this is the toughest yet. I am going to continue and grow the business that Ron and I started and grew together. I will be continuing selling our DVDs and will continue publishing our Survival Quarterly Magazine for years to come. We have many exciting projects we are working on for the future. Ron still has a lot more to give and a lot more teaching to do and his legacy will live on….
